If the track is fast and no rain

I believe Smarty Jones can do it. He looked brilliant in the Preakness. I for one, would really like to see it happen. The Sport of Kings needs a new superstar.

the average person doesn't realize how rare it is to actually win the Triple Crown Title and how hard fought it is..Racing needs a good boost. Hopefully I will have to add Smarty Jones to My Gallery on my website. I'm taking Smarty Jones and Lionheart. Mad Dog

My town borders the track. I was there in 73 for Big Red, 77 for Slew, and 78 for Affirmed. My father was officiating that day in 1978 and said the Affirmed-Alydar stretch run was the most intense he'd ever seen. Mad Dog

I knew I liked that horse's looks

I read an article this morning that his great great grandfather was Secrateriat. He has the same coloring.

I have been waiting 31 years to see another horse that even came close to "BIG RED"

The article stated that if Smarty wins, they will refer to him as "LITTLE RED".

Few horses stand 18 hands tall like "BIG RED".

I remember the Affirmed-Alydar stretch run. It was a ding-dong battle from the top of the stretch to the finish line.
If that doesn't get your blood up, then horse racing is not for you.

I truely hope "LITTLE RED" does it tomorrow as it would be great for racing and make a wonderful ending to an amazing story.

Like you I have wonderful memories of races that are now the makeup of legends and myths. But, if you saw it in person or on TV it has a special place in any punters heart.

I have been a race fan for almost 50 years, making a significant part of my tuition for the University of Miami at the three tracks that then existed in the Miami area.
Tropical Park, Gulf Stream and Hialeah are fond memories of a very well mis-spent youth.

I believe it now defunct as a race track

the land probably became to valuable. I will relate a good story about it from over forty years ago.

I got a tip on a horse that liked to run in the mud from an extremely well connected source. All morning the day of the race, I sat in class and prayed for rain. It rained like crazy and the track became a swamp. I raised some money from my friend who owned a pawn shop and put $250 dollars on its nose. The horse ran away and hid and paid a hansom price of just over 13 to 1. That race paid for almost a full year of school at the time. To this day one of the better days at the races that I ever enjoyed.

Probably the reason that I enjoy the races so much even today although I rarely get to see them in person any more as I now live in Missouri. Thankfully there is still the internet and the travel channel.
