Has anyone ever used or put a two stage firing solution on an lgb 15...strikes me that this might be the best solution for my situation....which is that i am firing 4700 edr versus my own calc of 2700-3000...can't seem to find anyone to get to suburban philadelphia but will keep trying...Weil does apparently offer such a product...John

2 stage
Been there, done that. I found I had to set the boiler to start up on high fire to always ensure the chimney was primed. After 2-3 mins I throttled back to low. Works fine but you have to make sure your air/fuel ratio is correct or you will have a problem with carboning up sometimes0 -
right Boilerpro...
my thought is to run high for the first 8 minutes of a firing(to prime the chimney and generate steam) and then cycle back to low for the remainder of the 25 minute firing cycle....have you tried out weil's product...ant thoughts on whether it will save enough fuel to make it worthwhile?

Like more info. on why or why not use the hi/low fire
My church has a LGB8 (steam heat) with 2 stage gas valve. Is there a energy savings to using the low fire and having the boiler run longer? Was think of adding another pressure for the second stage? Or what would be a better form of control for the second stage?0 -
the atmospheric LGB has an economical first
cost and works well with the controls you mention. Heattimer makes a good control for this application. If you have a larger budget, use a wet-base boiler like the weil 80, or 88 with an lo-high low, or modulating burner. The Gordon-Piatt burner is the local favorite in the DC Metro area.
