False Water lines

I have a 150 hp. Steam bolier, 22,000 sq. feet ,1 pipe system.
i went on the job and they installed a false water line and 2 -2" f&t C traps.and a boiler feed pump .The problem is they reduced all the returnes into a 2" vertical line and installed the 2 "C" traps off a 2"tee, and continued the equlizer up to the main.
The nipples at the water line in the equlizing line by the tee to the traps keep wrotting out.
I need to know what size the vertical pipe needs to be and also any info why these nipples keep wrotting out .
