will I get Burn(ham)ed again?

you may remember me from "fool me once 10/08/03" when I described my history with burnham boilers. well, here I am again...a great job opportunity and having to make a choice. Will I make it three times!
An update on the last fool story..I did get an acknowledgement from burnham on the leaky boiler but it seems the person I originally talked to in the tech line has "left the company" and no one else recalls dicussing anything with me. Also, my request for a modest reimbursement for time and trouble was lost, although it was attached to the return material tag. Also, the local burnham dist. has been sold.
It's like turning the light on and seeing the roaches scurry away.
Anyway if I completely lose my mind and decide to use this burnham v9 what do you think I should ask my salesman to do for me? Thanks for listening.I enjoy every vist to the wall.

    Burnham

    Bob,

I personally like Burnham boilers. If you're looking for dependability and reliability, I don't think you can go wrong.

As far as the previous problem, there may have been a better way to get the results you were looking for. If the problem with the boiler section was truly a material defect or failure, I would've started with the supply house, then gone to the local rep., and if that complaint fell on deaf ears, I would have called Burnham directly. I'm quite sure they would've stood by any warranty.

As far as a supply house not being around anymore, that, unfortunately happens. And nobody remembering the conversation--they deal with hundreds of people each day. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you feel you're being wronged and nobody seems to be listening, you have to do something to get their attention. I know I do and it almost always works.

I'm not quite sure what this is all about or where the breakdown has occurred, but none the less, e-mail me with the particulars of this problem along with model and serial numbers and your contact info and I will do what I can to get it resolved for you. Hope this helps.

    Bob...

...Call Burnham and ask for Glenn Stanton or Randy Fisher. If they can't help you directly, they can put you in touch with someone who can.

Burnham is a great company. I don't know what problems you had, but most I come across are caused by the way they are operated (below operating temperatures / thermal shock) and very very seldom is it product or material related. And if it would be product related, Burnham would take care of it for you. 717-397-4701

    Regards,

    Burnham Reliability

We stock Burnham, Peerless & Buderus.
We do not even carry repair parts for Burnham. The reliability is second to none. The Peerless Parts section (mostly Pinnacle) takes up several shelves!
Please tell tell the entire story...

Thanks for your replies. If you can, search for my original "fool me once" of 10/08/03 and the original story is there.
Glenn S., I did e-mail you after you read the original "wall" graffiti. That's when we discussed the employee that left the tech line and I gave you the failed G1 Opus model and serial, dates etc. You were going to contact the rep who has since sold his business. Check your e-mails back then to: robertdanders52@hotmail.com

Anyway, what forum ! When you can get some great input from so many people. Thanks Dan H
  • I do recall

this now. You had the G-1 with a bad weld on the overflow piping and you had discussed this with a gentleman that was in our Tech. Services for a very brief period of time. Not sure which distributor you had dealt with on this one but let me know via e-mail.

E-mail me with the particulars of this upcoming V-9 job (water, steam etc.) so that we may discuss things in an effort to make things go a bit smoother.

    Burnham Distributor

As a Burnham Distributor I can tell you that they stand behind their product. They are a very proud company and truly believe in the partnership between Manufacturer, wholesaler and installer. I have never seen them leave a contractor blowing in the wind. Speak to Glen, I am sure he can connect you with a new customer service person who will solve your problem. What area are you in? If you are close enough I will be happy to speak to you about the possibilities of helping you get to the correct person in Burnham to solve your problem.

    RE: new boiler type

    Hello Glenn,
The new boiler is a KV911 knocked-down CI with a G-P dual fuel burner to replace a Kewanee fire tube. I'm dealing with Goodin Co. of St. Cloud MN. Tim Wilcox, 800-642-6160.
I'm not familiar with the new Rep's name.
    Regards,
    Bob

I recently had a Burnham oil fired eight yrs old fhw
in Bedford Ma., V73 I believe. Within 24 hrs the local supplier Arlex Supply (Arl., Ma.,) had a new jacketed block delivered to the home. Although I'm not a big Burnham fan (Commonly called 'plumbers special) I was especialy pleased at their quick response w' my problem. That expedited response allowed me to close a full second floor Split A/C system. There's my experience.

    order is in

    Hi Glen,
I've placed the order with Tim. I won't want him to lose out on any $$, but would you consider passing on a discount to me (6-8%) to cover the cost of the G1 boiler replacement? I would appreciate your thoughts on this.
    Regards,
    Bob

This is not my call. But I will speak to our Regional Manager for Minnesota today about this and have him get in contact with Tim. Hope this helps.
