just a little curious. when you organize your truck, what are the things you put within reach at the back door without getting in the truck? in other words how do you organize to get the most stuff [tools, material and pipe] accessible without climbing in? i am replacing my truck with another 12'box van [not the exterior side bin/door type]. any ideas?.

    Depends a little

on the type of work you do often. I actually keep a flashlight on a charger in the cab, along with my Fieldpiece VOM under the drivers seat. Seems those are needed on every heat service call.

Fire extinquisher and safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, first aid kit, jumper cables, rain jacket, can of hand wipes, all fit behind the folding seat in the cab of my Dodge.

Small CO detector, ph meter, glycol tester, hardness test kit along with company cards and stickers all in that flip down center piece on the front seat. Safe warm and clean there.

Tool box or bag with the basic stuff hand tools should be close at hand.

A pvc tube bracket for my thermos in the cab on the hump. Nothing worse than your thermos rolling all over!

It takes a while to get it all in the right spot. About that time the truck wears out :)

    I went on tour

@ the supreme factory in Pa last year, had built a truck to order then cancelled!! decided there is no perfect truck with some low payloads and high dollar cost. I am currently fixing up a chevy p-30 with a 14' alum. box for hauling heavy equipment to play in the mud with!!

I would like to get a 10-footer for service and such, single wheel, eazy to get around. but problem to get in the garage with 8' door height.....geeeze that is really nice!! I am jealous!!

    Truck?

Anyone need a Chevy 30 series G Van cutaway w/Grummond 14' box truck? It's an 88, but it only has about 80,000 on it. I bought it new but recently bought another one last year. I'm in a pickle cause I can't park it for extended periods of time were I'm at. It's currently in my partners yard in Bangor, PA..I loved working out of that truck, and no one other than me has EVER driven it. Robert O'Connor/NJ

    Tony..

I don't have a scaner, sorry, but my partner does and thats where it is anyway. 80,000 yes. When it's loaded, not very good, maybe 10mpg but thats rolling @ 8500lbs. It's gas with dual rear wheels. I got a alarm/but can't find the remote. I welded a class A hitch into the rear step & frame and I also installed a radar detector (built in behind the grill). You can carry SOOOO much stuff in that truck its incredible. I just wish I could park it where I live but I'm in a real nice town finally and the neighbors don't take kindly to box trucks in the yard.. I'm gonna miss that girl.........Robert O'Connor/NJ

    Hey Murph

This is the back of JCA,s truck before we put in the racks.

I believe its the same style, ten foot bed, but without the side doors.

You Guys have some nice Trucks

Luckily the Sanford and Son state of affairs in the back of my truck look nothing like the work I leave behind.

    Darin

The cube van without the side doors is very close to the same price as a one ton. MUCH more space And you can stand up.

    No wonder

my kids thought I was a little off the wall and still do.

I could find anything needed within seconds and if it wasn't there I knew my late Father-in-law put it away.

    Thanks for the sentimental memory.

    Well I'm not sure

if I did it wrong or right. My boss just gave me a helper today. His first words were "How the H__l do you find anything in here?" Well by the end of the day he was amazed-- only once out of about 15 trys he wasn't able to find something where I said it was. We shall see what tomorrow brings cause he was putting things back "where he found 'em" Just gotta luv those lil challenges. Oh Ya he gets to drive tomorrow too!! Could be a day for STOCK ROTATION!!!!!!!!! Wadda ya think?
