I thought I was ready to roll the carpet on this rehabb home I bought, but after putting lots of money into the place, realized my cast iron radiators are either cracked or have 3" holes from exploding from being frozen this past winter. It has been a humbling experinece . I am looking for a manufacture of radiators or I will incure the cost of basebourd heat. The existing is hot water.
Any solutions appreciatied. Jeff

    use google

search for used CI Radiators. There are several very good places to look into getting them from.

    New rads?

Try Burnham. They have brand new C.I. radiators. The sizes may be different, but do the math and figure what you need. I've used them for both hot water and steam. The only complaint I've had so far... is the goons that put the 1/8th plugs in the vent/bleeder tappings sometimes overdo them. (it stinks trying to get them out when they're recessed too far to get a wrench on, after the screw slot has turned to mush!) Chris.

    Where........

...are you located ? People on this site have been known to keep a radiator or two in their garage. I have access to a few.

    Used rads in Chicago

If your in the midwest I know of a couple of places that store vast quantities of used rads. Also a friend is (gulp) tearing out his 80 yr old American CI steamer as part of a condo conversion and the rads are there for the taking. E mail me if interested.

I will be outfitting a large restoration in the Detroit area, and maybe it would be worthwhile coming to Chicago for a load of cast iron. I would be interested in the names of your sources, thanks,
