I was wondering if any of you would be able to tell me what you pay your techs. and installers?

If you are not interested in posting it on the wall would you e-mail it to me?

    Tech's and installers

When I left for Iraq our tech's started out at 50k, some of the better one's over 100k. Installers started out at near 40k, topped out near 75k. Installers are not on call, Service tech's get a truck too. Other things come into this as well.

Yah I'm in too! That sure beats owning the business. I'll move most anywhere if that deal is good. Well maybe not the middle east.

    100K

That breaks down to $48 per hour with a normal 40 hour week or at $30 per hour working 7 days a week , 8 hour a day with time and a half after 40 hours .

    Sounds good

40 hours a week with no liability. I wouldn't know what to do with my extra time. What does the boss have to charge to pay all the bills? I assume you also receive a van with tools and gas and insurance. WOW count your blessings. That is a big nut. I hope to be able to pay my techs that kind of money some day. I just haven't figured that plan yet. More power to you.

    just curious

How much do you have to charge per hour to recover these high cost? Salary + OT + Benefits, company truck, etc.

Just wondering because I see labor rates all over the board on the East Coast, and I think many companies are not charging enough.

Looks like the break-even nut on that yearly number comes to $147.00 billing rate per tech hour. That's with two weeks paid vacation and 34 billable hours per week out of a 40-hour paycheck.

    Billed

I have been home for two days. The billed rate is $125.00.per hour. We try to get atleast 35 billed hours a week. The base pay is not 100k. The numbers are total income amounts. This includes percentage of eqipment sold and other non-hourly income. The firm I work for does a very broad range of things. The highest hourly only part of thier income was near 70k. That number did not include overtime. Our reports show one member of the staff made approx. 30k in overtime alone.

The overtime in the firm is optional. An employee can stop for the day when finished with any service call. We have serval employees that work overtime weekly. Other are fourty and out. Employees working overtime tend larger raise in thier hourly income.

Most of the service staff have owned thier own firms. We in the service department provide, the department numbers to all employees of the service department. They know how to make money and control the costs when nessary. The openness is required to understand the big picture. We operate as a team. We like to know what we are doing, and how to support our customers the best that we can .

We are active in the following areas, Residental plumbing, Res. hvac, Comm. plumbing, Comm hvac, Comm Refrig, Comm electrical, Res electrical, Industrial plumbing, Ind. hvac, Ind. refirg, Biotech support. In additon to providing operating services to serval small public water systems(50k- 750k gpd) & waste water systems. The hvac includes steam and hydronic work.

We are not currently looking for staff. Myself returning to a real job.
