we just started on this project design in a new 105'x32' ranch which consists of: 2 gas fired boilers, 100 gallon indirect hot water heater, four bedrooms, study, pantry, lower foyer and basement will be baseboard with each on its own zone, 4 bath rooms entry foyer kitchen living room and dining room will be all radiant (staple up). with some supplement baseboard in living room and dining room. a hydronic heater will also condition garage. i'm looking to pipe a primary/secondary system with outdoor reset. my question is i am placing these boilers fairly centralized in the home and was worried about long pipe runs and temperature drops. i would love to build a wall and consolidate the whole system or is it better to put remote
circulators racks around the basement. just getting started on design and looking for some input.
thanks in advance!!

not to worry
is no problem .... easy way to get over here from there, bring 4 loops together, run supply line to there, bring the returns all together, run a return line to there, i think it best to bring them up in a wall ,use a 14X14 plastic inspection panel or a metal 14X14 white diffuser grill made for Forced air. put a wirsbo pex valve 1/4 turn on each line and a riser with a 3/4 ball valve and a no kink to use as a purge valve to bag air out of the system on start up or to regulate forced flow if there is a freeze up. now, in or around the boiler room you can bring the lines into copper and valve the 3/4" and it will supply the 4 loops Da dant dant dah da! presto chango boiler room looks shiney the headers are all hidden in the field ,you have control at the boiler room and all is well:) i see if i can get one of the ladds who savey how to send a picture on the net to send you a picture, due to my rather back wood ways i seem to have very limited computer skills not that i havent owned the first hand held programmable etc etc i just have a different sorta knowledge.0 -
What you suggest
will certainly work. i like to keep all the pumps in the mech room. Easier to service, nice for the next repair person.
Be sure to insulate long runs to minimize that heat loss. Pex al pex is a nice product for this. Unroll, slide the insulation over it and pull it into the joist bays. Quiet, clean looking, little expansion issues, few if any couplings, etc.

i'm using a cgi-8 weil mclain boiler. i originaly thought the heat loss was higher than these put out. i need 158k net and the cgi-8 does 169k net. since posting we changed to one boiler. any input on injection pumping. weil mclain has a panel, taco has that new injection control...what do you think??

Wirsbo ProPanel
I like the Wirsbo Propanel. Panels are made with various configurations and extremely easy to install and connect.
