Thanks for all the help. The responses have been a great help. Last question...I promise. Has anyone heard of a Utica Boiler? If so can I have some feedback.

Sure
A US made cast-iron single-pass pin boiler. Not my favorite but I can't say anything bad about them basically equivalent to Perrless,Weil etc.

Utica cast-iron = Columbia cast-iron
A good boiler is a good boiler, and this one definitely is, under either brand name.

Utica
I have installed many Uticas over the years. Never a problem. It's a good cast iron wet base boiler. I've used both gas and oil with Becketts and Carlins. If I'm not mistaken I believe they are owned by the same company as Dunkirk. Good equipment.0 -
Only boiler we sell...
We sell them exclusively. Three section is the easiest cleaning we've come across, can be brushed through the breaching. Gets good efficiency nos. keeps chimney dried out. If installed with coil it keeps up very well. If your installing a water maker order the one without the coil and it is a full casting (no blank plate to leak). We've been installing them since 96 with no trouble, and we service them not just install. These are definitely the easiest boilers i've ever seen to brush out. They are open enough to put a brush through without getting stuck, you can clean it all without having to open the chamber to get at the usual "triangle". These are the cats meow!!!!!0 -
Utica is
my favorite boiler. I have installed many utica boilers over the years with only a couple of problems handled quickly by the manufacturer. in my area there are lots of 50+ year old uticas that just never seem to break down. they are made by the same family in upstate New York for about 80 years.
