Has anyone used their indirect heaters. I was at a sales meeting today for Triangle Tube products. I like the idea of a tank within a tank. It seems better than a coil. Any thoughts?

    Well...

I don't generally install them, but thanks to a gift I have one in my house making hot water using my trusty MZ-25 boiler and I've got to tell you it makes hot water just fine. I think it's only 40 gallons, but there are 3 adults and a 12 yr old girl at home and it works great. The color matches the boiler, too ;-)

I have one of their 40 gallon units

running off a small Weil which also heats the addition to a large house, and their two teenagers have yet to run it out of hot water. Easy installation and works great. I'd recommend it.

    That's the brand

I prefer. I have a small 32 gallon that runs on priority on my Weil GV Gold. Plenty of HW.

It is also available with the Weil McLain name, as well as the Aqua-Therm brand. Same Belgium made tank with different jacket colors. Shop around, prices vary :)

    TR 80

I have a TR-80 installed three years ago in a very large residence (7 baths, three laundrys) It can support all 5 Jacuzzi's and the laundries simultaneously, with plenty to spare. Pricey piece of goods, but very reliable. Next house I build will include one for certain.

I like them:) looks sorta in the right mellineum.:)

Triangle tube makes them for weil mclain too: there is a fancy new amtrol you might consider, pipes in from the top.

    Amtrol

Yes, that new Amtrol that pipes in from the top will make it much easier to pull the coil out now. The Phase III(triangle tube) indirects are a great heater we have only had one sensor failure on a tank out of hundreds of installs. Use a thermostatic valve on the outlet of the heater, run the tank at 140', and let the water come out at 115'. It will be almost impossible to run the tank out of hot water. Not to mention, No Legionella bacteria growth. Keep in mind that if you use a thermostatic valve on the tank to run it hotter, do not use a domestic recirculation line. It will allow the hot water to ghost through the valve at the hot temp.

    Two

I have installed two,one in my wifes cousin's log cabin in
1992 and one in my previous home in 1994.As far as I know the one in the log cabin is still cruisin' along.Unfortunatly the one I had installed in my own home failed after 4 years (better in my own home than the customers) It was easily and prompty replaced hassle free and as far as I know it also is still running fine six years later.

Does this apply to all thermostatic valves?

I wonder as my home currently is planned to have 1 tank @140°F, a thermostatic mixing valve to temper the water to 115°F and 2 recirculation systems.

How do I prevent ghosting through the valve?

They are great with condensing boilers

Because the heat transfer area is so large, that the boiler often does not run above condensing temps when recovering the tank. They also have almost no pressure drop, so you don't need a 1/6 hp pump for the tank, just a little NRF or UP 42.

    Darin Line Or recirc pump.?

Do you mean no pump and line ,or no line? i can not apprehend the thought that the ghost flow would work with out a recirc line. it seems to elude me how that could work.
