hot water heat system help

I am trying to put together a hot water heat system for a new home and need some advice. what i want to do is use a single high efficiency boiler to run an infloor radiant loop, a heat coil in an air handler, and an indirect hot water heater. The house is 2200 sq ft, needs 80000btu to heat. I have installed pex in the basement floor, 7 loops at 300'each. I am going to hire a contractor to install the rest of the system and I am just looking for options to run by them. Is it practical and efficient to run a system in this fashion? I dont want to have to oversize the boiler and have it be inefficient in the summer just running the hot water. I am also looking for advice on whose boiler and hwh to use. I have looked at weil mclain ultra, dunkirk quantum, peerless pinnacle, monitor mz, and crown. any help in these areas would be apreciated. thanks for your time

    more info

do i need to figure on more boiler size to run the indirect hwh or can that be taken care of by controls and zoning. i dont want to be sold too much boiler. i ran a heat loss on the main floor myself and came up with 64000 btu, and 15000 for the basement

run your radiant off another indirect tank and set water temp for radiant at the indirect. your boiler temp can stay at one temp at that point. Check into System 2000 if you want to maximize your fuel efficiency.

    Assuming that your heat coil...

in your air handler requires 180 degree water, your boiler won't be condensing much of the time and you won't operate as efficiently as you could. You can keep the price down and the system and controls simple if you only use radiant and an indirect water heater. The boiler will then run at a low temperature and be very efficient during radiant heating, and it will have the ability to elevate its temperature and firing output to quickly and efficiently (compared with a gas water heater) heat the water for your home.

As long as you a choose a modulating boiler, oversizing the boiler is not a huge issue.

Out of the boilers you listed, I would recommend the Ultra...but then it is the only one out of your list that I have any experience with.

Good Luck and be sure to hire a qualified contractor...the lowest price isn't always the best system...and at the same time the highest price isn't always the best either (often times goldplated)...look for someone who is middle of the road and uses quality components.

    An 80,000

BTU/ hr output boiler should be plenty of power for the indirect. For most homeowners :)

A priority control would assure full hp to the indirect on dhw call.
