Boiler replacement in florist shop

Plenty of help for a job in a tight spot . I think this was an American Standard ? boiler , 4 section in the basement of a florist . 3 zones with a split on the main zone . There were 6 of us on the job , mostly knocking into each other like bowling pins . We also had to install 2 275 oil tanks in another part of the basement .

Very dirty and the old chamber filled up about 10 - 5 gallon buckets .

5 section . We used the power hand truck to bring the knockdown into the basement , still it was tough to maneuver ( I don't know how anyone brings em down packaged ! ) The manual reset aquastat is required in commercial buildings here . Although we had a fan blowing into the room , and right outside the door was a refrigerated flower room opened every 5 minutes - it was damn hot in there . As fast as we could drink it was sweat out . It was a rough day . In the middle of all this , the owner said we broke his sump pump hooked to the flower washing sink ( it ran constantly ) , and needs it fixed asap . Took me an hour to disconnect , clean out all the flower guts and put back together . Turns out there was nothing wrong with it - the pump runs longer than it should , about 10 seconds . What a day .

I think we're going to go back and put in a bypass - forgot all about it in the blazing heat . Took a good 10 minutes to fully drain the old system , so I think it's pretty much needed .

    Ron,

You gotta get the "powers that be" interested in either Taco IFC or Grundfos FC pumps. They're taking a 1/2 hour and a couple bucks on fittings by letting you put in the Flo-checks. Remind them that time IS money. That ought to get them off their keisters!

    Great work....as usual. Chris

I've tried and tried to get them looking forward with new technology ( it ain't so new nowadays ) . You are absolutely right about the time saved with the IFCs . Thanks for bringing it up again , I'll ask tomorrow and see if theres a change . And thank you for the reply .
  • Is that what it was ?

An Oakmont ? I gotta start looking at the names on these beasts . We only used the power truck to bring the new one down and the back section up . Otherwise it was good ol' brute strength and ignorance .
