Spill switch
Hi, there,
My mom has a weil-mclain EG40/50 steam boiler, and the unit could not fire up, I would like to ask how to test the the spill switch?( is it supposed to be in closed or open), do any one can tell I could get the weil-mclain parts in NYC? Thanks in advance.

I believe the spill switch ...
on the draft hood is resettable. Simply reset it if it is (depress the little red button, pushing it back in). If not, and to answer your question, the spill switch completes the safety circuit. The switch must be closed or "made" to complete the circuit, and for the unit to work.

STOP!!!
Spill switch (TFE) tripping off is an indication there is a problem. Before you do anything else, check the chimney/flue. Take apart the breaching/smokepipe and clean out whatever is blocking it up. This is not a game.......Robert O'Connor/NJ0 -
Robert is RIGHT
Manual reset limits are critical resets and stop the unit from running in the event of a potentially LETHAL safety condition. Find out WHY it tripped before reseting it.
If you do not know how. Hire a professional. If he only resets and walks away. he NOT a pro. Make SURE he chaks the vent system.

The real question is....
This is not really my "brand", but a safety concern is a safety concern. By "spill switch", are you referring to the switch on the draft hood or the "flame rollout switch" which is located down by the burner tubes? If you are actually referring to the "flame rollout switch", do NOT replace it until you have determined why it tripped out. This is usually caused by a blockage in the heat exchanger or section assembly. A spill switch on the draft hood can usually be reset, but it still would be wise to determine why it tripped out. That could be anything from an adverse wind condition to a bird's nest. My advise is to not put your mom's safety in your hands.....put it in the hands of a qualified professional! See picture below courtesy of "Mad Dog" Sweeney. Hope this helps.

The fuse is blow
Thanks for the reply, I noticed that the fuse is blew, also I checked the spill switch is open with multi-meter, I would try to see if the spill switch function ok or not by restting it. Thanks again.
