Heatway tubing

Hi Guys...I have a customer who has a system that incorporates Heatway entran 3 into a radiant floor system(s). Part of the system is staple up and part slab. Last winter one loop stopped working. It was winter and I thought it was frozen...its May, still plugged...I even ran street pressure to it, just drips...I will have to run a heat x-chger to it because I tested some of the junk comming out and it is ferrous/magnetic... So much for an 02 barrier...Any way to get the line back up and running? its a 175' run of 3/8" tubing....tia kpc

Hmmmmm....
Entran 3 didn't have an O2 barrier. The Onyx that came after it does.
Have you tried using a compressor and higher pressure?
It sounds like that circuit became a mud leg for some reason. Probably never had good flow through it.
Maybe George Rhomar has some ideas?

What if any are the cast iron components. Sounds like our cleaner would break if up and disperse it enough so that you could get it to flush. Give me some more details about the system.0 -
hmmmm
i just looked at a Poly system with grey Vangard tubing that I think has the same problem. Anyone with info on this related topic?? As far as i can tell the Vangard is also a non barrier system. lots of rusty crud comin out everywhere!

Entran 3 had an EVOH oxygen barrier
Entran 3 did have an oxygen barrier, so I don't think the corrosion was caused by oxygen ingress.
Hard to tell what causes some corrosion problems - might have the water tested or just treat, flush, and put in treated fill water.
I assume you've looked at system piping, leaks, etc to make sure no external cause of excessive fill water or air intake?

funny
I had the same experience with my first radiant job ever. Lucky it did'nt stop me from doing others.
I tried pumping simple green though it for about two hours and then a preasure washer. It seem to go thru untill todays later when I got a call about seating pipes in the basement. Seems the feeder was runningon the boiler ... You got it.
A big warm spot out in the slab.
That job has baseboard now and I use Stadler tubing.

Did the loop ever flow?
It is possible that it has a kink. I have seen both solar roll and PB systems plug tight, from iron sediment, never a barrier tube job, however.
I'd try water pressure then put your compressor and take it to 125 or whatever it will provide. If you have a trickle, it should be fixable. Wear safety glasses when screwing with high pressures!
If it is a kink, all the pressure in the world won't get you flow. Unless you burst the hose somewhere

If you mean me HR
It had minimal flow and was a poured job that had gone a winter.
If you don't mean me than ..... Never mind

Well the job....
had been running for 8 yrs. w/o any problems. Customer left the room t-stat at 75F. Boiler is a Weil-Mclain gv-6 2 zones radiant 4 other zones (1 modine,2 air handlers,1 indirect)Boiler manifold is in steel all piping to manifolds are copper. I have looked at some of the tube (under a CI tub) and it looks fine. I will try the compressed air although the hose clamps make me wonder about a blowout....kpc
