Shawns get third place

Shawn has finished the last of five stages on the tour of Ct. He came in third over all and was the top amateur.

I say this for two reasons. One we are very proud of him.

Two years ago he was involved in a car accident while training alone. He was medivaced to Boston and after four stressfull hours we were told he would be O.K., with some tough injurys ( cracked wrist and a pin in his leg ). Those four hours were the worst I have endured. I played with my young sons not knowing if he was going to make it.

Later I spoke to my mother and told her I was sorry. She said for what ? I told her " For all the times I told you not to worry about me ".

Rockys tragic loss this weeks reminds us all how fragile we are and how quickly life can change.

My heart goes out to he and his family, I have thought of them all week.

Good for Shawn and I know how proud you must be of him. My daughter has been a marathon runner for years and has won a few events. Three years ago she moved up to the Ultra-Marathons .....fifty and one hundred milers and ran them until stress fractures in her legs slowed her down a little. She is now married, is a Chiropractor (as is her husband) and will enter her first Iron Man event in two weeks. Oh to have that much energy again. Here is a picture of a race last winter...she is the one in the foreground. Congrats to Shawn again!

You know I feel the same way as you Scott about poor Rocky.

Kids are a blessing, and I hate these people who don't have a good word for them. Most of the kids I know are bright, fun loving and very careing.

I was working till midnight last night and a phone call from my son at 9.30pm made me feel so much better.
