The heat loss calculation that was done on my home is 35,000 BTU loss.Their will only be two adults living in the house. We do not have any largw style tubs but do have a med. size walkin shower with two heads/sets of controls, dishwasher too. I plan on using a HX to separate the radiant heating system from the domestic water. I also want to use an oil fired WH. I'm looking at the BOCK line of water heaters. Would the BOCK 40E be big enough ?? It is a 40 gal. tank and delivers 141 gal. first hour. Any thoughts..???

On the fence??
40 gallon oil will work but your gonna need to crank up the temps on a design day. If your ok running at 145+ then maybe. I haven't run any #'s but you may be better off going with the 50...your gonna hafta mix down both anyway......Robert O'Connor/NJ0 -
Thanks for the reply Robert. The entire upstairs of the house is radiant ceiling and walls. The bathroom(tile) is in the floors.I don't think I'll need high temp. in those areas. The first floor is a homemade samwick covered by an engineered wood floor. On design days...I'll be lofting wood into the wood stove for sure !!! stove is on first floor.0 -
Also take a look at
Triangle tube has the Delta Elite Combo unit: 20 gal Stainless Steel 20gal inner DHW tank with an outer steel tank with boiler water for heating system. Lifetime warranty. Nice to have those extra BTU's in case you want to run some baseboard downstairs. With a 100K unit, you'll never run out of hot water and you'll be able to push 170° boiler water if you need it.0
