Actually a mix "Thermoglaze" thats is coated on the inside of a steel tank.
Warranty is limited lifetime, eight year full warranty, pro-rated after that.

Indirect Tank
As mentioned above, Buderus Tanks are made of steel with the "Thermoglaze" coating. The coating acts like the porcelin coating on top of a cook stove. It protects the steel, easy to clean and durable.
The warranty is full replacement for the first 8 years and then pro-rated up to the 15th year. From the 15th year and beyond a credit of 25% is issued on the purchase of a new tank.
Proper maintanence to the anode rod is required for the warranty to be effective.

Great tanks
Larger HXer's,full access to the HX for cleaning and a trim kit for dressing out the tank. The larger vertical tanks also include an electric anode witha LED for quick referance to wether it should be replaced.

Ditto That
They are awesome tanks. I have never had one fail. They perform extremely well, even under harsh water conditions.0 -
I posted this once before here
Regarding the glazing used in water storage tanks. An engineer from State Industries, a large water heater mfgr, told me that the deeper blue the galzing was, the better the quality. This, he said, was due to the percentage of cobalt used in the porcelain. He was bemoaning the fact that water heaters were being made more cheaply all the time and that sacrificing the quality of the glazing was one area were they had saved a ton of money. When he pointed this out, he told me to check out the color of the glazing in the next really old water heater I took out. When I scraped through the gunk I found that it was indeed a deep blue color. The glazing on a new water heater is grayish in color.
Why does this have any bearing in Buderus' tank quality? Next time you have a chance, just take note of the glazing in their tank. You will find it to be a very deep blue color, indicating a very high quality glazing.
That being said, I have never had any type of problem or failure with any of their tanks.0 -
heading to Germany
I am lucky enough to be going to Germany next month to see the plant. I was told yesterday that one day we will visit the plant where they make the tanks ( no not panzer ).
Guess I now know the questions to ask about the slurry mix.
I am going to load up the camara, so look for a whole photo essay.

Fascinating
I had no idea that the deep blue of the fired slurry was actually functional. I wonder how well the plastic coating inside AO Smith Electrical units stacks up against ceramic solutions...0 -
probable
as well as the Amtrol tanks work ( snicker )

You Lucky Dog
I have been to Germany four times. It has always been a good time. When you get there go to the nearest bier garten and order a big glass of hefe weizen (wheat beer). There are no preservatives in it and I believe it is not pasturized. It is a tasty treat. You will get a kick out of the taxi cabs with Buderus plastered all over them. Where in Germany is the Buderus plant located? If it is in Frankfurt there is a special street you will have to take a stroll up and check out the crazy underworld that exists there.0
