Are Heat Transfer plates noisy?

heating system isn't on outdoor reset, the sudden temperature change when there's a call for heat will cause the tubing to expand and creep in the plates; that's when you'll get the tick-tick-ticking.

If it's possible to change the system to outdoor reset, temperatures changes will be slower and the ticking will not be as noticeable.

    One of my techs went...

out on a service call (to work on a boiler) and found a radiant install using heat transfer plates. He said that the heat transfer plates were emitting a clicking noise while he was there. Possibly, the plates were expanding and contracting and hitting the screws that were holding them on??? Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Typically all of our radiant installations are in gypcrete or concrete, so I don't know much about plates. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
