Take a bow Clammy
Very nice and alot of work.I was wondering what you make your panel out of?I have had mine powder coated to match the Bluderus .......Very nice touch.A time saver that I use is the flow check pumps.I have had great luck with them and am currently installing with Grundfos 15-58 FC.Three speed pumps to meet your needs including the integral flow check.

thanks
yes it is the same home i had been servucing there old unit of about 5 to 7 years early on i knew it was a gonner.the paint is just benjerman moore euro blue it's close but not exact .For the panel it's 3/4 6ply plywood with 2 x 4 screwed behind it so as not to torck the plywood from the weight which was around 350 lbs .I know about the ifc pumps but didn't have all my faith in them a know the flow chk will stop migration so i'll stick with them but i do have 2 ifc back at our shop that i'de like to install and see if i get any thermal migration if not i'll start using them .I ,m located in northern new jersey and do work here and in rockland and orange county in new york state i also make my rounds in and all around jersey. The ho was quite impressed but there home was very nice a real beauty so that old boiler was quite out of place i feel now that the systems besides looking good will function alot better then there old system thatsR.A. another note
On another note this unit only ran with the baffles at stack of 300 i removed the baffles to obtain a 350 stack with a 11.5 co the burner is a beckett afg2 at 175 psi pump burning a 1 gallon noz set a a trace of smoke i used a tiger loop to stop oil recirc to the tank and installed a8124 triple aquastat using zc zr to give me a low limit circ control on the heating zones and a single taco relay for the domestic hot water. As usually i used a spriovent and as you can see alot of ball valves for isolation n time wise 2 days to build and wire the panel and pressure test for 24 hours 60 psi water and 3 1/2 days to complete the whole change over with drop clothes and all refuse removed most of all the work was done by me the other service tech i work with don't do any installation and you wouldn't want to even see them it's not pretty i must have nailed my head on that drop grider at least 15 times thanks for your kind and encouraging words they mean alot coming from you craftmans who's work astounds me thanks again and peace cklammyR.A. Beautiful
Clammy, Very nice! I have been using the IFC circs and they have worked well. I also wire in an outlet on every install for future service work. The owners must be proud and thrilled.

Clammy,
Outstanding! The customer will be taking visitors to the boiler room to show them his "new heating system". This IS the greatest compliment an installer can get.(Not to mention the customers you'll also get!) Splendid work my friend! Keep the bar high. Chris0 -

location
i've been getting my buderus 's from luce swab and kase in fairfield nj other suppliers can get them but tha boilers come with luce stickers all over them nd luce gives us a much better deal they do not cost that much more then wiel mcleqan or others and service wise they are the easiest to service and a higher quality boiler then most for a cast iron wet base 3 pass they do rule .i haven't had a mclean that ran with a gross stack of 350 that i can think of yet with the baffles my gross stack temp was 300 i haven.t seen a new american design boiler with baffles and that low of a stack temp buderus penny wise and a wise investment for any contractor or homeownerR.A. Congratulations and a few questions
First off, your installation makes the previous job look like an afternoon stroll through the hack gallery. It's great that you not only improved the system performance but that you laid out a much more logical, easy to follow system than the previous installer. What's more, the whole system can now be easily serviced rather than having to wade through a forest of copper to get at the leaking fitting (invariably in the back, no?). So let me join you in the chorus of unqualified "horrays!"
Your comments on the Buderus are very helpful - I am considering the same model for our home. Please bear with me, as I have never been in your clients house... it could be huge for all I know. However, were 8 circuit pumps really required?
It seems odd that the previous, kludged system seemingly worked OK whereas the new system looks like it could drive a house 3x as big. However, this is not to say that your system is overkill, far from it! For all I know, the new house heating system finally allows the owners the comfort, control, and happiness they have been waiting for.
Hopefully, our 5,000 sq ft house will allow me to use fewer pumps... We'll only have radiant heat to contend with and I'm happy to be a guinea pig for Variable Speed + ΔPressure pumps like the Taco VS series (1 for each floor to make organizing manifolds easy).0 -
lay out reasoning
Well they had ! inderect heater that gets quite a work out alot of kids mostly girls and 3 or more adluts so a pump for rated out put was a no brainer and as for the rest in a quick walk through i found 3 kickspace heaters that fans cycled on and off durning heat calls , a small 25,oooo btu hydronic fan coil for the 3 car garage and 5 other zones which 2 where from addations 1 from a large finished basement bar and game room and 2 that where origanal for the home one zone having a split return .I knew from preveous service calls there that there system had air promblems and a bad distrubition system .When the cold hits the smaller zone would become satisfyed but the large zone would take a while or never cycle off on temp while the smaller one would chime in and out happly satisfying there t stats.I,ve used this type of system layout alot when i know the zones are long and i want to get the proper flow out to the system it most always stops all air related promblems and on most cut there fuel compustion down where it's oil or gas .I perferr pumps to zone valves unless each of zones are not more then30,000 btu out put with piping loses plus cost wise the pump is not much more money then a zone valve and i know the circ relay ' flow chk and isolation valves but what about a zone vale panel , differental by pass and all the goodies reqired for zone valves .For me i,m a pump guy makes me feel good not having to worry on multi zone heating system that my larger zone will recieve less flow when a smaller zone calls and as another plus i've changed more zone valve motors and complete zone vales then replcad taco pumps or relays and the pumps in most cases are isolated but alot of times the zone valve are not installed with isolation vales so it drain down and purge more time it's a true personal thing but i do do zone valve sytem too peace and thanks for all of your kind words i really don't get many complaments from the home owners or my co workers or bosses except yeah looks good and could you work at little faster instead of your projected 4 days you,ll be outta the in 2 1/2 right thanks again and peace your words of encouragement truly mean alot coming from the excelent craftsmans and trademen that you all areR.A.
