estimated fuel usage

Does anyone know a pen and paper formula I can apply when trying to come up with an estimated annual fuel consumption for a new building so I can give the owner a rough idea of what to expect? Several generous Wallies have plugged my numbers into Siggy's Hydronic design program, and I am ordering one of those myself tomorrow, but tonight I need a formula that I can play around with myself at my home where I can vary the btu requirments, boiler efficiencies, indoor temperature and see how all these come about. This will be a hanger that will only be about 55 degrees inside. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,
Rocky

    Some of the info

will come off the bottom number of your heat loss calc sheet. Mainly the building load at various indoor/ outdoor temperatures. Cooler indoor temperatures= less total load #'s.

Then all you need is fuel cost figures and equipment efficiency stats. The last number is the hardest to pin down. Do you believe AFUE? It gets a little gray when comparing condensing equipment.

I've used condensors in a couple large shop applications 10,000 sq footers. The parts and labor is considerably less when all you need is a boiler, one or two pumps and radiant manifold :)

Lots of energy suppliers (online) have energy calculatore. I think www.uselp.com has one. They may be skewed towards the energy they sell, however.
