Noisy Hot water system

I have been working on a hot water system that has both in floor radiant heat first floor and baseboard fin second floor.
The system is twenty years old and had a air water separator added about three years ago.
The boiler just recently (within the past six months) began making a boiling noise in the boiler that is radiating throughout the system.
One month ago found the circulator pump to be bad and replaced it.
The supply side tempature is 175 degreees and the return side is 162 degrees.
The boiler pressure is 18 psi.
The boiler is fluing properly but is emitting heat out the face.
Slant Fin Tech Support, thinks the boiler has a buildup of lime causing the exchangers to superheat and flash the water and that this will crack the chambers.(Pittsburgh Pa. water)
They also suggested adding Hydronic #5 to the system to help lubricate everything but the customer is affraid it will damade the copper that is in the floor.
Do you have any suggestions that will help or cure the problem without replacing the boiler.
Thank You
