I wonder if you guys can help me?
My good lady and I are starting an extension to our home. I will be doing a lot of the finishing Joinery work myself. I've done a wee bit of this type of work before and find it a very good therapy away from the madness that's Plumbing/Heating.

Any chance you can send Steve and Norm from ''This Old House'' across the pond ?.........NO !, ach well you can only ask.

Kidding aside, can anyone recommend a supplier who will ship across the pond a Paslode IM250A angled finishing nailer. I got the frame nailer in the US a couple of years ago and it's a great tool. It was a lot cheaper State side
than here - which is very important for a Scotsman!!
Kind regards.
Jimmy Gillies.

I typed Paslode IM250A and came up with several suppliers . Is the problem that they won't ship to the UK?

Or do you simply want a reference for a reliable mail order company?

    Best Regards.

    Paslode IM250A

Paslode IM250A £384.95 incl. VAT. from tooled-up.com. I was watching a pneumatic nailer on E-bay (and the wedding dress) last week and this link was mentioned.

How much in the US, anyone care to provoke a little envy here?

    Envy.

    Aidan.
The last one I bought in the US was the same price in $ as £ here. So with my Scottish short arms and deep pockets buying in the US has great appeal.
    Thanks Aidan for your help.
    Regards.

    Robert.

Yes a lot don't want to ship items here and it's the same on Ebay(US).
However if I buy one on Ebay I may get a free wedding dress.

I understand were that guy with the dress is coming from.
Me and my ex-wife were getting on great until we bought the water bed, then we started to drift apart!!
    Regards.

    US price.

You are correct Aidan, I paid say $335 and it was £335 in the UK.
As always we pay over the odds here in the UK! I find it strange how the price of new vans has reduced so much, I guess it must be due to public pressure?
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
    Regards.

    IM250A

There's a new Paslode IM250A on E-bay-Uk at present, but it's up to £240 at present. You'd probably do better importing one. There's probably another dozen Paslode nailers on there, including IM250 mkII's. Lots of shifty dealers, as well. Caveat Emptor!

The IM250A is described as 'UK ready'. Is there a difference between the Uk & US nails or something?

    Latin

    Aidan.
Does 'Caveat Emptor' mean 'Buyer beware' as in Latin, or has it a more up to date meaning like 'Wee Scottish chap should be very carefull bidding on Ebay as he may get his fingures burnt'.
I think? the only differance between the US and the 'UK ready' is the battery charger.
The last Paslode I bought & had shipped over from the US. I used my sons Hornby railway set charger to charge the battery. He's now a strapping 13 year old & gets more fun, out of nailing bits of wood together with the Paslode, than he ever got from watching a train go round and round!
How did we get from 'Latin' to 'Hornby' in one small post, ah well it just goes to show you how eclectic your Wall is Dan!
Thanks to all for your help.
    Kind regards.

    Paslode

I think it meant beware of the slippery sellers, if you haven't tried E-bay before; if you have, then you probably already know about them. It sounds like the nail guns were imported & sold on E-Bay at a profit & below UK retail prices.

    Be careful!

How do you measure nails in the UK. We use penny sizes in the US which is a convoluted shorthand to represent fractional inch(US) sizes and a specific diameter which varies depending on lenght an type. Most pneumatic fasteners are labled with the inch size and don't seem to follow the diameter conventions as closely because of limitations of the tools. Are your fasteners metric?

    Nails.

Yes Matt, we do sort of the same but we don't refer on penny sizes. They are done on lenth in metric (mm) and then the actual type e.g. brads, ring shank or lost heads.
Hope that gives you some info.
I still have not bought my new nail gun.........yet!
    Kind regards.
