    You betcha...

Get a Pot, water, a jumper wire, and an ohm meter....and you have everything you need.

Heat the water, throw the jumper on the T&T, and check your contacts for continuity.

    Good luck.

    Waylon, That might work with,

An 8148, but an 8184 is an oil burner cad cell relay. Works/doesn't work on light, poor signal from the light, or a call/no call, from the energizer (thermostat, aquastat or switching relay).

There are fine instructions on the tech. sheet that accompany them, but problematic "lockouts" with unexplained causes have only been found by "seeing them happen", or by monitoring with an On Watch monitoring system.

Altweiner, check out Oil Tech Talk. I believe they have a direct connection to the company. Good luck. Chris

    Lockout

Assuming your talking about a safety call.....The relay is the last step in testing .Likely if you find nothing testing everything else, then change the relay. A few relay checks that I know of . Cycle the relay ,Check the voltage across FF (should be around 3.4V) , remove the relay see if the grounding screw which also holds the clapper in place fell out...

    As Bill Murray said...

8148, 8184, close enough for the girls we go with...

What ever you do, DON'T let the smoke out of it, or it'll stop working:-)

    Troubleshooting

Disconnect cad cell, use an ohm meter to check resistance. Seeing light, the resistance should be less than 1600 ohms. If over 1600 ohms replace cad cell. The rest of the toubleshooting procedure for this control is too extensive to post here, check out http://hbctechlit.honeywell.com and type in R8184G when prompted. No charge and no account number necessary.
