I am impressed with the product

I am waiting for them to show up on my dock so I can send them back out the door. I have spec'd them on a few single zone, single temp jobs before I start on some larger projects.

The price point is pretty attractive for what equipment it "replaces".

Please note that the attached drawing is still a work in progress. I am playing with where I want to attach PRV, Expansion tank, and double-check.

    Regards,

    PR

Thinking about a constant flow application

    on my secondary loop.

I am thinking that in "Reset-mode", I can make the Maximum Supply and Design supply temps the same, and plug in my design room temp for my Minimum Supply temp?

    Comments?, Ideas?

    this looks very much like

a pair of pumps - one for system a one for injection with and intergrated tekmar 361 - and air vent

question is, can it really handle more than 85kbtu with 3/4 connections - i just did a system manually like that but the primary and secondary was 1-1/4 and the injection was 1", for a baseboard load of 117kbtu 11.7gpm ?

and how have you eliminated injection ghost flow - i pumped down 18" from pri to sec to elemininate ghost flow - what does it do? or are the pumps IFC's and you depend on the spring checks?

    yeah...but

you have some visio stensil components that i didn't find on the tekmar website - care to share?

otherwise we have to take the "Mixing Block's" jpg and re-draw it or try to scale it, which never looks right

if only ziggi would use visio - he uses a mac - and you know what mac users say, "you can only take my mac, after you pry my dead fingers from it"

i have redrawn his, in powerpoint which works just as well in visio - can email it to you - can't attach ppt or vss or viz files on the wall

    Stencils

Yes I have a few stencils, but I can grab any JPEG file or picture from the Taco, Peerless, and any other website and drag it into my Visio program to CREATE a stencil. That is what you are looking at for the Radiant Mixing Block, Taco pump, and Pinnacle boiler. You can make it as versatile as you want it to be, but it is an investment of time to set up.

It is especially handy for the electrical side and wiring diagrams. I am looking at contacting Taco for some of their components that I can dovetail into my drawings as well.

    for doing those

i use pain shop pro - since if you put the image into a layer then right mouse erase undoes erase - so if you clipped the edge of a pic while erasing, you can hold the right mouse button instead and go over it again to bring it back - real neat

perhaps we should just email all our stuff to dan to put in a section - but he might not want to get into the copyright issues

    External Pump Wiring Detail

I am a radiant floor heating system designer and am planning to use my first Taco Radiant Mixing Block on a project where radiant floor heating will be included with a small addition to an existing building. The heating contractor is interested in the product and sees this project as a good candidate for the RMB-1.

I plan to include an external boiler pump and was reviewing the Data Instruction Sheet for information. Page 10 of the Data Instruction Sheet talks about removing the line cord and hard wire the RMB. Also, a female spade connector should be added to feed the pump and the neutral run back to the neutral input power supply.

Since I am a designer and not an installer, I would like to provide this detail to the heating contractor. Is there an additional data sheet showing this detail or maybe a hand sketch that would detail the installation? I would appreciate any help with this detail

there is no reason to take out the plug

i do all my pumps with plugs - as long as you
have a GFI breaker or GFI outlet powering it - then it's
ok by the national or even nyc's electric code

it's such a great convenance to be able to disconect for service - or plug into an alternate power source like a Battery backup power supply

the best thing to do is to have the main line to the boiler go through a GFI continuing outlet - ie the ones that protect all the circuits following it - they make them with an indicator like to tell you if it's alive

the radiant block is not much different from my setup

just more compact - in that the system and injection and tekmar are all rolled up in a neet package - but if you look at it, it's very similar with the sensor's input's etc
even the display on my 361 shows the similar stuff

my application happened to be baseboard - low-head-hi-flow opposite of what the taco was designed for

    wiring multiple rmb's

Still unclear about how you would wire multiple RMB's with multiple temp . Ok,hi-temp circs, and dhw off taco's zone control relays like a sr504.

but how would you wire the pumps or zone valves on the supply side of RMB's. Another zone control panel?

    relay or contacts

if tstat drives pump realy, use another set of contacts or another realy to drive the demand input o the rmb

it useing ZV's use the aux sw from the zv's to the demand input

ps the demand input are the "com" and "heat/dem" terminals on the right - and can take powered or un-powerd input
    powered=is live 24 volts - unpowered=just a switch -

you cant mix the two types of input !!!

a zone control board is probably your best bet if you not electronic savy

    RMB Availability

Hey...this is a really hot product!! Trying to keep up with demand is a challenge, that we at Taco welcome and will conquer. The logic in this control is not new; it is similar to the PC705-2 injection mixing control, used with Taco switching relays. The benefit of the RMB is having the injection pump, supply pump, and the control, bundled up in a neat package, facilitating piping, reducing time, and money. Currently, there are several hundred casting on order, and Taco management is closely monitoring the orders so every Taco, representatives receives product satisfying customer orders. Additionally, we have several orders for the new “I” series mixing valve, which modulates the flow, based on outside temperature. For your convenience I have attached information on this new product. This is a very exciting time for Taco. We have a great staff of engineers that listen to customers needs, and are designing products that is setting the standard.

Check with Ferguson in Anchorage (recently FNW or Alaska Pipe & Supply). I just got back from Rhode Island where we toured the TACO Factory and saw the RMB. I now have one on my desk and a job coming up where I will need 2. Don't know how many they have in stock, but check with them.

    \"Family owned business \" - oops re-edited

cheeeeezz - must be run by the grandchildren by now - you guys have been around so long

any way - any diagrams for two or more in a system?
and is there any plan to offer this in a high-flow/low-head application such as fin coil convector?

also needed from taco is integrated block with two pumps and a flat-plate heat exchanger - so that it's easy to install isolated system - example - glycol snowmelt from reg heat or a radiant zone from a domestic hot water heater

of course the flat plate HX would have to come in sizes, and the pumps would have to interlock so that the snowmelt side doesn’t run until the fresh water side is hot enough, not to freeze in the presence of super cold glycol on the other side – it would make for such a neat install
