Phase I - DF

We just finished phase I of this snowmelt project. We laid 12,000 feet of 3/4 pex in three days. It was hot and dusty with the sun reflecting off of the insulation.
The manifolds will be located in the concrete manhole in the center of the motorcourt. We are using Wirsbo 2" copper manifolds with 3/4" Pro-pex connections. The concrete manhole is 6' x 4' x 4' tall. That may sound big but it will be a very tight fit.
Phase I consisted of 10,000 sq. ft. around the motor court. Phase II will be 12,000 sq. ft. of snowmelt around an art studio. We will start that one later this summer.

Very impressive.
Looks familiar. I think you showed me the prints to this job before an RPA board meeting. What is the insulation? 2" syrofoam? WW

Insulation
Hi Wayne,
Good to see you at RPA and ACCA last week. We used two layers of 2" polystyrene insulation under the snowmelt. The motor court will have a 6" concrete base and cobblestones set in dry mix. -DF
