Duct Work Question?

As they walk over the floor it's moving, which in turn moves the duct. Not really a duct problem but since there was no noise before you installed the duct............ drum roll.............. IT MUST BE THE DUCT!!!

The only thing that can be done is to suspend the duct in such a way that it will be able to move independently of the floor. I've had to resort to threaded rod with strut holding the duct up using light springs to suspend the strut across the bottom of the duct. Not a good description but you get the idea?

    Hey guys!

After finishing our first large Quik Trac install the homeowner was so pleased that he is also allowing us to install his A/C system. We have decided, with the HO, to use an American Standard 18 SEER cooling system.

We already installed all of the return and supply duct work and we will be installing the mechanicals next week. The HO has contacted me today and said he has noticed that when they walk around on the second floor they can here the metal in the floor below? The floor is constructed with modified lumber and we have heard from other contractors that they have experienced the same problem. Have any of you guys and what had you done about it?

    Ductwork

Are these duct mains, branches or joist panning that you're talking about ? If it's the latter it might be the blockers that are too tight to the flooring.

It's my understanding that modified lumber, is supposed to be stronger and more stable? It's hard to beleive that with construction standards today, that there would be enough deflection in the floor to cause any noise..maybe it's 24 centers? Is there any more information on this post, has the issue been solved?
