Trying to find.........................(Starch)

....a pop-up assembly for an old American Standard pedestal sink. One of my guys was installing a new faucet, and decided that the p/o ****'y looked crappy, so he figured he'd replace that too.

The old ****'y was so corroded that the nut would not come loose, so he attacked it with a saw. Successfully removed it, and then realized that it's significantly larger than a standard, readily available pop-up ****'y. The flange diameter on the old one is a good 1-3/8" The hole in the sink is large enough that the flange of a standard pop-up drops right through it!

I have to admit that this is the first time I've run into a situation like this. The old ****'y is a Kohler brand, and I can't find anything in Kohler to fit. Also spoke with my American Standard rep, and he couldn't help me.

Ideas, anyone?

Thanks,

Starch

    Look here

I don't know if you have these companies in your area, try looking at the building material salvage companies. Or ask the guy who you know who's been in the trade since water was invented. He might have some thing in the back room.

Couldn't find anything on the web

2" hole? If so there are "mini" sink drains (usually with a little basket) that will fit, but no pop-ups I could find.

Was recently in London and had to get some unusual (U.S. at least) plumbing parts. Am 99% certain that I saw a number of lavs with larger drain holes. The pop-ups that fit them were literally pop-ups. Written on top was the word "push". You would push to close, push again to pop up.

Problem though is that all the lav drains I saw there don't have a straight tailpiece--the drain is intended to screw on to the top of the trap (usually a bottle trap).

    Obsolete parts

    http://www.crogan.com/index.htm

Try here, they helped me out with some real old fixtures before. Digital pics help to identify. Think I spoke to Joe Crogan there.

    Good Luck
