reading one of my books from wetstock, ? about end switch

first thank you everyone that i met at wetstock yesterday !
had a great time, i learn tons, just from listen to people talk. i was able to answer alot of ? i had just from listening. i bought a pile of books to keep me busy for a while ( thanks dave yates and dan ) sitting here reading my book on boiler controls, i wanted to ask if i have the reasoning on a end switch correct ( witch i did not under stand before yesterday ) for example a 4 wire zone valve, i side is going to operate the zone valve motor, to open valve and inreturn will close the other side to make a circut witch in return would turn on circulator. how about a end switch on the end of a control panel or isolated switch in the same, would it work under the same way but for maybe another function in the system u have it wired to?
thanks again for a great time. david

First two make the motor (load)

circuit as in a basic circuit, last two are the switch in another.

With three wire same thing; 1 and 2 are the motor (load), 2 and 3 are the switch. Two basic circuits regardless of configuration. Really easy once you get teh hang of it. Take it one circuit at a time and you can't miss, FACT!

    David,

The end switch in a zone valve is just like the the isolated contacts or dry contacts found on a zone panel made by Taco or Argo. The end switch on a number of zone valves would be wired in parallel so that when any one zone valve opens they would energize the relay that turns on the circulator.

I don't know if you bought any of them at Wetstock but Carol Fey's books on wiring are excellent resources for learning how control wiring works. They are available here on Dan's website.

I enjoyed meeting you in Baltimore, we talked on the bus to Burnham. My Dad grew up in Chestertown, MD, near you.
