Apprentice needs advice

Hi,

I have a few questions in regards to licensing. First does a plumbing license include gas fitting or do I need a seperate license for it. Seems like a dumb question I know but on the plumbing boards page it has apprentice plumber and apprentice gas fitter applications. Second I live in Mass and was on the Public Saftey web site. It says for oil burning it takes 5 years to get licensed is this true and do i need to get a apprentice card. My boss isnt a licensed oil burner but a lot of the guys have their burners licenses
how do i get my app. card when my boss doesnt have the license. Lastly for all you fire sprinkler guys are the requirements 8000 hours and 144 hours of school per year of apprenticeship this seems like a lifetime. Ive been told it really doesnt take that long. any help on anything will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    MASS liscense

Hey I'm from MA too and ironically enough I just applied for my sprinkler app. liscnece. Yes the 8000 hours is true. It's about for years of pratical time under a journeyman or sprinkler contractor. and the kicker is that you need to take 144 of school EVERY year, you can't just pile them on at the end like a plumbing liscence. There are seperate tests if you only want to become a gasfitter, but if you are an app. plumber, you are automatically considered an app. gasfitter. (back in the 80's it used to be the same for the pipefitter/sprinkler test, if you got your plumbing liscence, you got everything)
