noisy dunkirk boiler

I installed a three section lennox (dunkirk) boiler with a bekett burner. The bekett has the prepurge start which seems to make the ignition start bang on. The burn is also throaty and loud. I adjusted the draft but the burner was set from the factory for this boiler. I also performed a combustion analizes on the system which came right into specs. My delema is the noise of the unit and how to make it quite?

    Had a Burnham V8...

...that did the same thing- all the combustion readings were right where they were supposed to be, but on startup this puppy would make a big bang!!!

I opened the burner door and checked the Z dimension, and it was not correct. Talked to Burnham Tech Support, and they reccomend always verifying this, as it can get rattled around during transit. Bottom line, even if it left the factory properly set, that doesn't mean it arrives at the job that way!

By the way, it quieted right down after making the adjustment.

No such thing as \"set from factory\"

check all your settings per factory spec's to reduce noise.
Some units will come on hard compared to what it's replacing ie: the older the unit being replaced, the louder a "new" burner will sound. Hope this helps John@Reliable

    more info on subject

I did not give all the info for the diagnosis. I had checked the settings on the blast tube as well as the electrodes. This is not the first one I have installed with this problem. I have never had these problems with burnams or buderus.

    If all is at spec.............

ie: pump psi, z , gap ,etc. I would
    A. replace nozzle .... B. derate it esp. if it's one of those boilers that "will" cover three different firing rates and you are at max. John@Reliable
