Painting and Humidty

Anybody have any recommendations for humidity levels in a spray booth application? We have a guy that spray paints plastic parts and gets little impurities that stick to the plastic in winter, thus ruining the finish. He believes it is static that is the culprit.

Low humidity is usually the LAST complaint in a spray booth!

But, some plastics can hold a really high static charge and the painters' theory may well have real merit.

Any way to neutralize the static charge in the plastic parts? I'm kind of seeing a big soft copper brush attached to a good ground...

    Static & Plastic

Have been thinking of this since posted...

    http://www.merkurencyclopedia.com/Exterior/painting_interior.html

Note that they recommend TWO washes with an anti-static degreaser prior to painting (plastic car parts).

Other thing I found where static was mentioned when painting was with snowboards. Didn't copy the link but it should be easy to find...unless you're a snowboarder I guess...

Anyhow, extremely soft copper brushes are often used in snowboard prep.
