Cleaning the flux out of the pipes

I'm looking for the best and most cost effective way to flush the pipes out of a newly installed hydronic systems. I've heard TSP or Baking Soda? Anything better than just a simple water flush?

Thanks for the help,

    John,

I use Rhomar Hydro-Solv 9100™ and then follow up with their 922™ Treatment/Conditioner. Cleans up dirty systems nicely and prevents future component failure.

Visit their web site http://www.rhomarwater.com and talk to George. One of the nicest, most knowledgeable and helpful guys you can find on this subject.

    Plenty

of hydronic system cleaners on the market. most all the plumbing chemical supply manufactures offer them. Hercules, Rectorseal, Utility, Calgon, etc. I use, and like, the Rhomar brand also.

A hydronic cleaner will do a bit more than a plain soap (TSP). It cleans and adds ph buffers, hard water lock ups, film providers, and more.

If you go with a plain soap, I have also used automatic dishwashing soaps, I would recommend a hydronic treatment to protect all those surfaces you have cleaned and exposed to fresh oxygenated water.

Check the hardness and ph, at least, of the water you will finally fill with. Hard water, for example, will coat all those "cleaned" heat exchange surfaces right away, reducing efficiencies and causing hot spots in the HXers. Very important in low mass high output HX boilers.

Most of the high tech stainless and aluminum boilers will, or should, list acceptable water criteria in the manual.

    John give me a call

at 800-543-5975. We have an excellent cleaner. The follow up treatment product protects the system from numerous potential chemical problems for at least one year.

Our web site will give you more info under hydronic products. Read Hydro-Solv 9100 for the cleaner.

The hot water will break up the flux, if that's all your worried about.
