Taco ESP Zone Valve?

does the valve have a -2 after the basic number? If it has a (-1) one replace it with a -2.

Other than that I assume there is power at the valve and it is not opening. If there is power and it is opening but not bringing on the unit jumpout the end switch. If it comes on the end switch is faulty. In any case replace it.

    Taco ESP Zone Valve?

I have a customer that called with no hot water. The radient heat in the house is working fine. The hot water comes out of a storage tank that is supplied from the boiler, and the zone is turned on by a Taco ESP zone valve. All the other zone valves have been replaced with Erie zone valves, and have their own relay. This Taco ESP zone valve has it's own relay. When I open the zone valve to manual,it heats the hot water.Should I get a new Taco ESP zone valve to replace it,or put a different one in?The wiring is a mess, and I was called out on Easter Sunday.I would appreciate an answer as soon as anyone can help.Thanks.

    zone valve indicators

    Tim,
Do you think it would be helpful/cost effective to have 24vac LEDs indicators installed on new zone valves?
1st would visually indicate if you have 24vac to the zone valve motor & 2nd would indicate if the end switch was making contact?

equipment surely helps. The question as to cost effective would depend on manufacturer cost to add such devices to controls. We have LED's on just about everything now days.

By the way the ESP does have an LED it works as follows:

    1. Thermostat calls it will start to flash for a short period of time until the Prostar Capacitor recharges.

    2. Green LED will trun on and the valve will iopen to full.

    3. LED stays on as long as t'sta is calling.

    4. T'stat satisfied light will go out and valve will close.

Very basic but it does help a little.

    Taco ESP, zonevalves

Thank you, for using Taco, products. The Taco, ESP valve does not have an integral relay. You have to supply a separate 24 volt power source, and a switch (aqua stat) to open the valve on demand. Taco, has recently introduced a new generation ESP valve that will fix all your existing issues. You can contact your local wholesaler for price and availability on the latest version. If your valve is not responding, you can detach the actuator, with a 1/4 turn, return it to the wholesaler, in exchange for a revised version. Taco is a great company that will always stand behind its product. Incidentally, Taco has recently introduced a new revision to the ESP valve. The latest version will have dual capacitors, and no need for resistors, making it an excellent choice for an indirect hot water heater. For your convenience, I have attached a catalog. Please advise, if you require additional literature
