Hi everyone i was at a call today with one of servicemen that is training me and we had to purge out a zone that was airbound. he told me that i had to think like the water in the system.I was okay with that , but i thought u had to isolate the zone by close all the other zones that are not being blead on the supply and the return.and leave the one that is being purged open. He told me that i just had to do it on the return i just want to double check we u guys . By the way are there any books on this(purging out air )?

sounds like
he is right for that system. if you want a book i highly recommend pumping away. it will change the way you pipe boilers and you will never have to purge again except on a new install. good luck and keep at it. it's a great trade. bob

I agree also
We install a valve for each supply and a purge on each return . We usually purge the zones with all the supply valves open and all the return valves closed . Where on the system was the feed valve located ?0 -
the feed shoud be
where the expansion tank connects. try pumping away ron. i was reluctant at first but a friend of mine pumped away for years before i would try it. i started pumping away a long time ago and it works a lot better. bob

THE FEED VALVE WAS PIPPED INTO THE RETURN.0 -
I do pump away
from the expansion tank on every job . What I do a little different is pipe the feeder into the return so when I purge the zones out I know it's all done when the water comes back hot and with no air . If the pressure reducer valve is going to be shut when the job is done , the placement of the valve is not critical . I guess I'm set in my ways .0
