Take a look at this story. It's from the UK.

Wow
Has there ever been a story of this happening in the U.S.?0 -
I do not
know of any jail terms handed out in the USA. I do know of a few cash settlements.
I am looking into it.

CO Deaths
Well spotted, Mark.
I had been expecting this item after seeing our local TV news, and was intending sending it to The Wall, but you are obviously very alert.
Many thanks to all Gentlemen and Ladies of the Wall, your breadth and depth of knowledge is outstanding, and your concern is heartening.

For those with trouble following Marks link,
Click on this link instead. Obviously a pretty clear-cut case. The landload and plumber should have or actually knew better.
However, how about the tenants? Perhaps we need to make it mandatory for tenants to read a safety manual regarding open flames in enclosed space, etc.? Sending the criminals to jail is one thing, actually saving lives is quite another. After all, I could see folks doing the same thing unto themselves with a propane heater under the right circumstances.
What a shame the boys had to die. My heart goes out to their families and friends. No one should have to bury their children, putting an elder to rest is hard enough as it is.0 -

Corgi.
As a Corgi contractor that has paid for lots of training of our Plumbers. The rules for doing this type of work is very clear and are only there to save lives.
You can only feel sorry for the family of these lads.
We can pay about £1,000 ($1,770?) per employee for training here in the UK. And as one who has done some of the training tests/exams, they are not easy - well for my wee brain.
Any Landlord must have all gas appliances tested once a year, by a Corgi contractor. But this costs them money so they don't bother.
Thanks for reading.

I agree
I think the sentence is too light.
I think landlord that do unlicenesed work or hire unlicensed subs should get fines. Repeat offenders should get jail
Naturally, if you kill people you shopuld go to jail!!

Robert
