Variable Speed Circulators

I'm hoping that a variable speed pump(s) would be an easier answer to widely varying baseboard lengths (10',22',30',45',53')in an apartment where I am replacing boiler and re-routing pipes.

I've heard that there these variable speed circulators automatically adjust to varying system pressure and flow changes without use of bypass valves, etc.

(The only one I can find is a Grundfos alpha+ which is only sold in Europe (50hz) as far as I can tell. Would need a step up transformer??)

Are there similar variable speed pumps avail here in US?

As far as I can tell, the Grundfos UPS series (ie 15-58) is a 3 speed pump, but it has to be pre-set manually and doesn't adjust on the fly to pressure /flow changes like the alpha+.

Can anybody shed some light on this?

Thanks!

Yes, B&G makes one, but you need to have a seperate controller to tell the pump what to do. good luck, tim

    Grundfos offers

a model UP15-42VS pump. All you need to do is provide a 0-10vdc or 4-20ma signal and the pump will follow.

    Variable speed circulators

Hydronic systems are constantly improving with technology. This is a very dynamic industry, and Taco has been innovative, and proud to offer these exciting new Variable speed pumps. They have all the features of the standard 00, and now available with an integrated variable speed control, for outdoor reset (00-VR), Set point (00-VS), or Variable voltage (00-VV). They can be used for injection mixing, or for a fixed temperature, with a changing hydraulic system design, when zoning with zonevalves. For your convenience I have attached the catalog, and submittal data sheet.

How do I get one of those nifty indicators to see if the circ is running?

    Thanks
