PRO-press boiler

Lee at Earthlee headers,Biasi boilers,Dan McDermott from Carlin. All made this project come together.Simple 4 zones off a cold start boiler, repiped the system around the boiler.Brought the existing zone valves down to working level. Not all the bells and whistles I would have liked but a nice clean package just the same.Pressing the fitting cut my time in half, which was great because my helper was out.Glad I bought the Propress it was sweet and the Earthlee speed headers made for a good match(very nice welds).Sorry if the photos are big or turned.I'll go back tommorrow to clean the piping and sweep up.Dave

    Question?

With the Propress system how much room do you need on both sides of the joint to accommodate the machine?

    too...

get around the fitting? The jaws need about 1 1/2" each side maybe. If in a tight spot I precrimped then fit it in. Battery model jaws can swivel but I think if you plan ahead theres no problem.Dave

    Have you ever

tried it with a system charged with glycol? We run a lot of snow melt systems and even heating systems with 40% glycol; and the glycol leaks out where water wouldn't.

    tight

I just had a pp fitting the other day that held 60 psi without being crimped. soooo glad I didn't forget it. Scarrrrry few seconds but I didn't get wet. This sounds stupid but it's the easyest thing to do. Try not to get destracted and forget a crimp. luck is on my side thankfully. They do work great, the copper has to be solid not weak or pitted and 1/2 the time.

    Glycol and ProPress

I have some systems with a 30% glycol mix with no leaks at all. Viega warranties the fittings leakproof for 100% glycol.

    Thanks Dave

The reason I was wondering about the clearance was for manifolds. I was wondering if there was the clearance and if you could Propress off of a copper manifold with 2" long outlets?

    dont

think you would have any problems w/ clearances. Saw a friend of mine today that bought a press after I jumped in first. He just got a big radiant job and is going to press the boiler, manifolds,HWM up to 3".He had a pallet of fittings dropped off today $3000.00 worth. We were like kids in a candy store unwrapping fittings. I'll have to get some photos.Dave

    Earthlee/Speedheaders

The manifolds are made by earthlee in NY. Any size, shape, length. The nicest welds you have ever seen.I don't have the site address handy but I get it if you want it.Makes things go quicker,Dave
