Microamps???
I was called out on a consultation on a job. Eventually found the problem to be a faulty pressure switch/tubing. That is not what was unusual, when checking microamps between the burner ground terminal and the pilot we had "0" microamps, however the job is running. Normal range for microamps with this control system should be between 2 and 10 normal about 3 to 5.
Has anyone ever experienced this before?
This is a single rod, local sense system so there is no sense circuit.

I am so glad I'm not the only one.Fluke 16, and it worked on other systems the same day.0 -
By the way I checked
my meter on another system and it is working fine. The meter I am using is an analog meter Honeywell W136 dedicated microamp meter.0 -
yup, i did,,,also
i was wondering what i was doing wrong...yet it worked fine.gwgillplumbingandheating.com

Me too -
Using the same meter as Tim plus a digital - 0 ma yet flame was proving. I've had this with uv systems as well - but if the system proves ... my question would be at the lower combustion rate for a modulating burner. zero signal yet flame is proved - technically a no-no - but what to do???0 -
microamps
?? Testing between the pilot and burner ground? Does this have a seperate flame rod or is it combo electrode flame rod. Just wondering.0 -
S86
Tim, not sure if I read your post correctly? The ground wire should be removed from module and the W136 connected in series. Red to ground wire black to ground terminal on module. On early models s86a,b,c.d no meter reading can be obtained. bob0 -
Tim Smith
yes this is a Honeywell single rod pilot. Spark and sensing on the same rod.0 -
Bob, yes
that is were it was placed and was unable to get any read at all. The needle did not move. This is a S8610U which required testing is from burner ground terminal in series through the meter to the flame rod.
The only thing I can figure is that signal is getting through some other way.0 -

I seem to remember that if you have a seperate flame rod on the S8610U, you could then test in series with the flame rod to sense terminal. Now with combo sensor, electrode you had to do it the way Timmie said. correct??0
