Latest Munchkin install

I was asked by the Homeowner to help him upgrade his boiler system and get rid of the 3 inch gravity hot water pipes that bonked him on the forehead whenever he went into the basement. Took out the old (very old)ARC cast iron beastie (boiler) and cut out all of the gravity pipes. Ran Multicore to all of the cast iron radiators from the Manifold on the left. Installed a relay that turns on the manifold circ with the Heat Switch of the thermostat so all Winter they have constant circulation. Installed the Vision I kit and set up with telephone help from Chuck Shaw from HTP. The middle circ is the injection circ running on outdoor reset. Took out the sensor from the Tri Tube indirect water heater and replaced it with the Munchkin Vision I sensor, so The Munchkin can control the temperature of the Domestic hot water directly. It was a pleasure to watch it run. I had to force myself to leave and get to the next job. I could bring a lawn chair and watch it, and play with it all day, if the customer wouldn't mind. WW

Thanks guys
I've had the Porpress a month now and believe I've forgotten how to solder pipe. BTW, How do you make the picture smaller. On my computer it's wider than the screen? WW

ProPress
Great job Wayne, What do you think of thos new Wirsbo Manifolds?
For anyone interested we have been using the ProPress for 7 months now and had no leaks to date. It does seem to pull a little bit we correct this be attaching the piping to strut first seems to work really good. We have the battery tool and it just took a dump on us. We are in the process of getting it fixed It should still be under warranty. We used it quite a bit since September. I will let you guys know how much it costs or what happened when I get more info. The only problem I had was when I didn't press a joint and put pressure on it. At 25psi of working pressure she popped. When I recrimped it I seen the gasket on the floor by my feet (UMMPPHHH) The joint leaked so I drained Isolated the area and soldered the hexagon. To date the joint has held. Next year When we do PM I will check the joint.

Nice!!
Wayne, Good looking install...does the Munchkin condense on a gravity CI radiator system?

Yes
It most definetly condenses. It was operating at 105 degrees the day i was there, and cycling on the tstat. When Cast iron radiators are sized for a gravity system the radiators are way bigger than needed for a circulator system since gravity is so low flow. I did a similar job where I set the top temp of the re-set curve at 130 degrees at 10 dgrees outside temps (Wash D.C.) and it worked fine. I set this one at 150 since I couldn't sit and play with it and whittle it down while I watched. You get better temp control than before, and at those temps you know it's condensing. WW

The new Wirsbo
manifolds are very nice. Once you add up the price af the old manifolds and the brakets and the adaptors and the time to put them all together the price of the new one is very comparable and preferable. I wish I had priced in the flow sensors, but we'll have to get by without them. WW
