Homemade tubing uncoiler

I'd like to make a simple tubing uncoiler. Does anyone have any plans or directions for these? What is commonly used as the spindle/hub? Thanks.

I've never seen plans but read once about some DIY'er that used a plastic garbage can fastened to a "lazy susan" platform attached to plywood....if you're a one timer, rent one from your supply house...$16/ day.....

Have you ever uncoiled 1000' by hand? I have and soon after I built mine from scrap lumber from a jobsite, some pvc, and casters because back then manufacturers models were a non stock item and I needed it NOW. I could tell you how but I'd have to kill you...just kidding. It weighs a ton but 100K or so ft. later I see no reason to buy one. Apologies to the retailers and manufacturers. Also apologies to my engineering drawing professor from....holy cow...28 years ago. Here's a quick sketch. Boy I've got too much time on my hands tonight.

    Uncoiler

After we were able to get some MrPEX locally at a reasonable price it was time to use up some of the treasures in our back yard. A 12"lazy susan off an old TV stand. My wife cut the base pieces out of some left over 3/4"MDF and mounted the lazy susan between the pieces of MDF. Centered the coil on the round disk. Cut a 16 1/2" hole in the center of a piece of plywood off the end of a discarded cabinet.Laid the plywood on top of the coil and set the old wash tub in the center then screwed it to the MDF disk. We used the base of an old fan stand to prop the contraption up for very easy uncoiling. This was another one of the fun things we do together and the cost was zero.
This MrPEX is very flexable compared to the other PEX's we've got samples of.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

    Mr PEX Tubing

    Hi Steve,

I appreciate that you like my tubing - and its price.

    And the uncoiler, too.

    Thanks.

I think it is time to supply the high quality PEX-a kind of tubing at a reasonable price to the market. High quality. Without hype.
    Very flexible.
Not the stiff 2nd class Silane.
    Not partly radiated PEX-b.
True ASTM PPI rated and tested PEX-a Tubing.

Why pay a premium for statements not possible to prove?

I am providing that unique pipe. I am the author of the ASTM 876-877.
