Radiant over concrete

I would be interested in finding out what you guys are doing now for radiant over existing slab on grade, including insulation and installation of tube. I will be looking at a job soon that sound like converting a 1400 SF separate shop building with slab on grade to a conference center. Added floor height is not supposed to be a problem. Thanks, Bruce

    I've used Insultarp down over

existing concrete floor, then wire mesh and tie tubing to wire mesh. Seems to have worked pretty good for me. I think some folks use a type of "bubble wrap foil" stuff as their insulation.

I've used 1/2" solid insulation, wire mesh and tied the tubes to the mesh. Works fine.

    Curious

What will be the new floor thickness that was added when all is finished ?

The owner described the ability to raise the floor , over the phone to me, as open, I am guessing 4 inches or more.

    Existing Slab

Make sure to seperat the new pour from the existing with some sort of insulation. We use R-Foil quite pftem for the minimal gane in thickness (1/4") Bubble-Foil-Bubble. If there is insulation already under and around the slab their is no need for this application. As stated before wire mesh then tie.
