PLACEMENT OF A CHECK VALVE

Am I wrong on this one. Last time I checked placing a swing check on a vertical run in a hydronic system was a no no bad bad. I just came from a hydronic piping class were the sales rep. was telling people this is an ok practice, huh? Someone enlighten me please!

Really, a swing check
isn't a good choice, in my opnion. The flapper does not have enough weight to replace a weighted type flow check. And without some spring tension, as a spring check, they tend to rattle often times.
Keep in mind, as Tony Connor wisely points out, checks need to be sized by flow rates, not pipe size, usually one, maybe two sized smaller are adequate in hydronic, low flow, applications. This info is available in the manufactures data.
