Insulpex - DF

We spent the last couple of days wrestling some Rehau Insulpex for an 11,000 sq. ft. snowmelt system we are working on. This stuff is heavy and hard to work with when cold. We stretched it out and let it warm up in the sun.
The fittings went together nicely and form a tight joint. The concrete box and manhole will end up flush with the finish grade and will house three manifolds.

Hi John,
Flag was working on another project. He doesn't like to get dirty. You're right, I should have left him in Vegas!

Dan, any comments on design help
from the piping manufacturer? Are the water calculations about the same for pex or pipe?
Mike0 -
Even though
PEX pipe is smoother, for some reason it's more restrictive; we typically size up 1 size for PEX runs.
For 100' of 1" pipe at 7 gpm:
PEX - 9 ft. of head
Type L copper tubing - 4 ft. of head

Design
Mike,
The entire job is under a consulting engineer out of NYC. They fly him down to the jobsite every three or four weeks.
The snowmelt system will use four Danfoss commercial snowmelt panels. Wirsbo did the calculations, tubing layouts and CAD drawings. Danfoss designed the mechanical room and sized the supply and return pipes to the manifolds based on jobsite measurements. Both are first class companies and a pleasure to work with.
Dominic at Wirsbo dreads my calls as we are now on revision #8 for the snowmelt and radiant layouts.
