Come across an article titled " Markup Madness" in the March 2004 issue of Remodeling magazine. Seems some plumbers aren't the only ones that don't know how to figure the correct selling price for their Company to survive. Also Mark A. Roberts series of articles starting on March 8,2004 in THE NEWS with " Lessons Learned in Bankruptcy" contain some basic but eye opening information on the need for proper business financial practices and the consequences of not applying them to your company. Useful reading for any business owner, and any consumer that doesn't understand why " but I can buy this cheaper at the big box". In todays "SERVICE ECONOMY" a couple of semesters of accounting should be part of any high school and especially technical school curicullum. That might give the average consumer a basic understanding of the true cost of the services they consume, and the starry eyed future entrepanure an understanding of the cost of business and might just give them an even chance to be successful.
