W-M GV question

Member Posts: 4,908
waith a 10 year old W-M GV boiler. It has started making noises and I believe that it is the thermostatic mixing valve. This is a Series 1 and I recall that there were issues with the vavlves on this series.
I have been told by our supplier that the replacement valves were recalled before they hit the street. So now I have a customer with a noisy boiler and he is none too happy.
Has anyone else encountered this problem recently? If so, where did you get the replacement parts?
TIA!

Description Please
Describe the noise. Does it occur only in the beginning, or while firing?0 -
I have the same boiler
in my home. I believe that is a Hoffman mixer under the hood. Weil should be able to supply the repair or direct you to the manufacture. Maybe disassemble it and clean and check the bore. Ugly water will cause them to hang up sometimes.
Good luck getting the top off Lightly tap around the sides with two hammers to help loosen stubborn ones.
You could run it without the guts for a bit to see if the noise has disappered?
Worse case it could be replaces with another compatible brand. Nothing real special about that mixer. Piping would be a bit of a trick in that limited space.

I used to install these
years ago. Never got past series 2.
I did order the replacement part, but I was told that the ones Weil got were bad. So now I'm told that it will be quite a while before the Weil approved part is available.
Frustrating to say the least.

I replaced.............
the inards on a series 1 gv6 last year.Symtptoms were supply temps were limited. No noises though. As Hot Rod said unscrewing the top is fun.I ended up with an 18" adjustable with 11/2" cheater and backed up on it with a 3 footer. It is very essential to use the correct body english, deep breathing and mingle in some choice language for WM"s engineering department:)
