Humidifer Question (Starch)

...had any experience with a similar situation??
Client has a heat pump forced air system, counterflow air handler that sits right on the concrete floor. The supply plenum is buried in the floor, so not accessible to tap into for a normal bypass-type humidifier. No branch runs nearby to tap, either.
I've been looking at the specs on some Honeywell "fan powered" units like the HE360 and HE365. but all the literature seems to indicate proper mounting is in the supply air stream. My only option in this case is to mount the humidifier in the return air stream. Obviously the cooler air temperatures will reduce the amount of moisture that can be introduced into the air. I'm also concerned about having moist air blown across the auxillary heaters, which are located in the very bottom of the AHU.
So whaddaya think? Short of pulling the AHU and installing a plenum box underneath it, does anyone see any hope for this type of set up? Or should I just tell the HO to buy a tabletop style humidifier???
Thanks,
Starch

You either have to raise the air handler and put in a 8" or 10" supply plenum or install the fan powered one and run it on hot water. We have always used Aprilaire brand and thats what they reccommmend. Works better than the portable units.0
