Replacing the heat exchanger

gas fired hot water boiler.
I have a customer with a 3 year old Burnam that's leaking. The customer has been told by the supplier(the installer is not around any more)that the cast iron heat exchanger has a lifetime warranty.
My question, is it practical to strip out the old heat exchanger, ship it to the supplier(they say this in necessary).Pay for a replacement to be shipped from Pensylvania to Canada and then put everthing back together again?
My gut feeling is it is just not worth the trouble and that the customer would be better off in the long run to start with a new boiler.
I think it is a case of a worthless warranty, but I would like to hear your thoughts about it, as there are somany strong Burnam supporters here.
