This question was posted by a contractor on my site, I told him to ask it here where they can better help out. Thanks for the help, I know him and he will very much appreciate it

Bud

They wanted to know what type of pipe dope one would use on 1 1/2" schd. 80 pipe, at 150 psi and 550 degrees F ? I did not want to post this at Sheet Metal Talk forum with concern for vering off the forums path. They will be looking I am sure this week end. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated. I am clueless!

HERCULES CHEMICAL, RECTORSEAL, S.O.S. PERMATEX ARE ALL SERIOUS PRODUCTS. ANY ONE OF THESE WILL WORK WELL .CHECK WITH FACTORY REP. IF VOTE OF CONFIDENCE IS REQUIRED.

The Most Important Thing To Do Is...

...read the manufacturer's info. Lots of thread sealants run out of gas at 300*F or 400*F. Some are only good up to 1-1/2" or 2" pipe. Some aren't recommended or approved for certain fluids. You can eliminate a LOT of problems right away by just reading the package.
