thought I would share this with you just to reinforce how important it is to make sure techs are properly trained.I took these pictures at a home that one of our customers was interested in purchasing. Needless to say, theres some work to be done here.

I see this stuff all the time most ho refuse to pay the correct price for the initial work and go with the cheaper price the contractor does the job and never comes back .Where do you start from near boiler piping or to the fact that no one probaly sized the unit right to changing the rad vents or checking the rad trap it's really a jungle out there if it isn't guys being lazy it's lack of knoweledge and the bussiness owners greed to not help his guys do the jobs right peace and good postR.A. That is so sad
but a 3- or 4-inch drop header and a good cleaning will make that Weil work perfectly.
I frequently see this too. We have repiped quite a few of them. People think they can't afford to do it right, then they end up doing it twice. What a waste.

BOGUS PIPERS --PLUMBERS & STEAMFITTERS
LOOKS LIKE THE BOILER WAS PIPED OUT BY THE SAME MORON THAT PUT THE TWO ILLEGAL PLASTIC QUARTER BENDS ON THE SOIL STACK IN PHOTO # 3 JUST PROVES THAT THERE ARE SEMI-SKILLED BUTCHERS EVERYWHERE. IF A HOMEOWNER DOES IT IT IS BAD ENOUGH BECAUSE YOU DETRY THE INTEGRITY OF THE BUILDING BUT IF IS DONE BY A CONTRACTOR AND HE GETS MONEY FOR A BOTCHED JOB. THEN IT IS CRIMINAL.0 -
Doing it wrong the first time.
I looked at duplex a customer of mine bought, the complaint was high gas bills, and knocking and banging.
Both boilers were condenmed by the house inspector before he bought the property. The original owner chose to replace both boilers (it was summer), the property closed. Then winter came!
The pressuretrols were set at 9 psi with 3 as the differential. The installer (jack leg) adapted to the steam main with 1" copper, and connected to the return with 3/4" copper. He forgot about the equilizer line, and the Hartford loop. Later the new owner found both old boilers pushed under the stair case in the basement (the installer probably thought he might use them for spare parts).
I don't think that I will ever retire, this business is just so entertaining. There was an error rendering this rich post.

A GAURANTEED STOPPAGE
I SEE TWO 4 " PLASTIC STREET ELS AND A GARBAGE ILLEGAL JOB THAT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO RUN A CABLE THROUGH WITHOUT DISASSEMBLING THE SET. ANY DECENT MECHANIC WOULD HAVE SIMPLY USED TWO 45 'S AND CALLED IT A DAY. ELBOWS USED IN THIS TYPE APPLICATION ARE FOR CHUMPS THAT CAN'T MEASURE PROPERLY AND KNOW NOPTHING ABOUT PROPER DRAINAGE. IT IS SO SIMPLE ----IF YOU KNOW HOW0 -
Nice werk
Plumbing issues aside.....
Great water treatment happening in that gauge glass....The glass that has only a cheap drain valve....that will splash on everything electrical...but I'm sure the 'mystery' (#246) tech explained that to the owner.
A steam safety valve installed on ANYTHING less than verticle?
