\"Smells like gas\"

Hi guys,

One of our installations, a new boiler, prompted a call the other night. The owner said the basement had a strong gas smell, and that the boiler was trying to light, but would not take off. When I got there, I turned it on. Everything was working fine, combustion was fine, little CO, and so on.

Could the street service caused this? I have no idea what happened. Thanks,

More info needed...

type of boiler, gas used, ignition method, venting method, etc...

Low voltage, gas pressure, and draft can fluctuate and cause this, in some cases.

Check

the pilot tube ferrule.

If I had a dollar for every pilot tube to gas valve ferrule/joint that was only finger tight fro the factory....
